Introduction

Microscopic Hair Transplantation is performed by removing a strip of hair in the back of scalp and this region is closed with sutures. The hair follicles are then separated and each follicle is transferred to the desired bald areas by using magnification. The procedure can be performed with the patient either awake or asleep as the scalp is anesthesized. Depending on the number of hair follicles, the procedure can take 4 to 8 hours. The goal is not only to produce a natural appearing hair line but also have the hair follicles growing in a natural direction. The recovery takes a few days and initially, the hair follicles will fall off and will grow back. The procedure is nearly painless.
