Wrinkle Reductions

Wrinkle reduction is performed to reduce facial lines. Lines around the eyes, in between the eyebrows (glabella), and the forehead which worsen with movement can be addressed with Botox. Botox paralyzes the muscle producing these lines for up to 3 months. It has minimal side effects and results are noted with in 3 days. Patients are advised to stay off aspirin, ibuprofen, motrin, advil for 2 weeks prior to Botox or any of the fillers to prevent bruising. Botox is usually priced by either per unit or per area. Soft tissue fillers are often performed for filling in deep facial lines or grooves. These work best in areas which have static lines, meaning, the facial lines do not worsen with facial movement. These products are also used for lip augmentation, decreasing nasolabial folds, around the cheeks /eye/ nose junction. The various products include Restylane, Radiesse, Juvederm, Sculptura, and Perlane. Fat grafting, taking a person’s fat from either the stomach, hips or buttocks and placing it another place for augmentation can also be performed. The advantages to fat grafting are several: Abundance and not having to buy it by the syringe, minimal chance of infection, extrusion; and near permanent after 2-3 sessions. Disadvantages include the need for liposuction to obtain fat and fat needs to be overinjected for desired results, and thus a slightly longer recovery time (7-14 days) in order for the swelling and bruising to resolve.
