Lipodissolve

Introduction

Lipodissolve is a recent procedure, first developed in Europe, performed to target localized fat deposits. While liposuction removes the fat from the body, lipodissolve is perfomed by injecting a naturally occurring compound, Lecithin, under the skin and it targets and disrupts fat cell membranes. The fat is either redistributed or excreted. Lipodissolve is also best for localized fat deposits.

The procedure is performed in the office and involves injections every half inch. Side effects include pain and bruising which resolve over the next one to two weeks. Except for facial procedures, two to four treatments may be needed for desired results. Compression is used to reduce swelling. It is an alternate to liposuction. Similar to liposuction, patient selection and expectation are key to satisfying results for both the patient and the surgeon.
