Fat grafts are performed by taking fat from an area of body, such as stomach, love handles, or buttocks and injected fat in a desired area, such as lips, cheeks, buttocks, or scar tissue. Most people have abundance of fat and thus do not have to pay for each syringe as with products but by the procedure. Two to three sessions of fat grafting may be needed for facial areas to achieve the desired result at which time the results are near permanent.
Fat grafting to the buttock region ( Brazilian Buttock Augmentation ) is performed in a similar fashion by performing liposuction in the surrounding areas: lower back, hips, upper thighs and then injecting the fat into the buttock region to create an improved contour. This is a preferred method and is less painful than buttock augmentation with an implant. There is less risk of infection and it creates an improved shape. Fat is placed in different planes to maximize survival and vascularization (improved blood supply needed for survival). Approximately 500-1000 cc of fat can be transferred to the buttock areas. Recovery takes 2 to 4 weeks.
